So noone plays this?
« on: June 29, 2009, 09:27:33 AM »
Every time I log in to AA3 to play, the Multiplayer screen shows only a couple servers with people, then it only shows 8 maybe 10 people in every server...

Is it safe to say that people are throwing this one out the window before even trying it?

I have been playing and... still trying to figure out stuff, the maps are well done... Specially the new version of the classics, but I do hate that you need 10 shots with an M16 to kill someone...

There's actually over 300 servers now.. or at least as of last night.  Not sure why you can only see a few.  A great deal of them are full.  Well, it seems that people favor the servers that max out at 20+ players.  So the smaller servers may be empty or have very few people playing in them.

There's still a massive issue with the netcode and game optimizations, so lag causes problems with hits.  However, smaller servers (up to 18 players) tend to have less issues with this lag IMO.  And with less lag, the amount of shots it takes to kill really depend on where the shot hits.  A head shot, regardless of weapon is an instant kill and usually that person can't be revived.  Some types of shots don't matter on location, they can cause an instant critical condition (hitting arteries, etc.).  But critical doesn't always mean incapacitated.

Overall, there's still plenty of bugs that need working out.  But the amount of hardcore fans of the game out there will really keep this game alive.

As for who, out of PnX, is playing - Smonkey and myself play almost every night together using 1RD's Vent or XFire to chat (I can't log into PnX TS because of a router in Boston that I can't seem to get any help with).  Gene's played a bit with us, too, but I think he's just about had it with the bugs in the game.  Last night we had Myst, Smonkey and 1RD's Revelin all playing on the same server and laughing our asses off.  I had to pull myself away before I ended up staying up all night.  Was a great time despite the issues we all ran into (I landed in jail thanks to lag, and I think Rev did just as I was leaving for the night LOL).

So no, the game's not getting tossed.  There are still plenty of issues that need resolution, but they've been making good efforts to fix these issues thus far.  Hopefully they'll have the biggest of them all fixed soon.

um...

I dont think I have any filters in the server search...  I wonder why I see only a few servers? Then only a few of them actually have people...

Yeah... I was doing Pipeline in a server with 20 peeps and I was getting severe lag... I left after only a couple rounds....

I'll try to get with you guys in game

Well I played for the first time early last night. I played Alley capture and hold? It took me two maps to figure out who the enemy was. LOL. Serge- my browser didn't populate very well the first couple of times. In the bottom left corner there is a percentage that pops up and lets you know how many servers there are and the percentage that are showing. If there is a "friend " system, I'm shakes212121. I don't use xfire much anymore though. Maybe I'll start. Between Steam and Xfire both running in the back round, I tend to lag a little bit more. I was wondering. Does any one shut off their antivirus when gaming?

It's not a bad idea if you're having a lot of lag issues.  F10 will bring up your FPS (measured in ms, which I don't totally understand).

As for Steam, I'm MistaObvious if you wanna befriend me.  Also, lately Smonkey and I have been using XFire for the voice chat since some people have issues with Vent in game.  XFire's voice chat works pretty well and even has that game overlay that lets you see who's talking.

Yea, the browser lately has been getting stuck on 7% for me.  If I exit the game and try again it usually fixes it.
