Smart Phones
« on: December 14, 2009, 02:10:22 PM »
Ok, I joined the smart phone generation back in 07 with the Motorola Q. After that I bought the hype of the first touchscreen Blackberry and bought the Storm in Feb. At first it was ok, but they worked hard to improve the software and they finally got it 90% there. The Storm 2, of course, was what the storm 1 should have been but what can you do. Now they have the Android OS phones coming out and the iPhone is getting stagnent but still the champ. Any of you guys sharing in on this craze?

If I wasn't stuck to the iphone (contract still), I would be looking at the Motorola Droid...

As far as Verizon goes, I'm starting to think Droid is the way to go.  Eris (what I have) is still 1.5 (Droid is 2.0) and I'm finding some quirky stuff about it.  Battery, from what I've heard, is better on the Droid as well.

As for the applications, I've yet to see gaming to be as far along as the iPhone is, but there really is a ton of applications out there.  Not entirely impressed thus far with the Google Navigation.  It basically uses the same thing you see on Google maps.  There's no audio to go with it, which is what really bugs me, and I've yet to figure out how to get street view or even simulated street view.

I don't know, that pull out keyboard was ackward for me. Still on the fence about it. Sony is coming out with a WICKED phone soon. http://www.touchscreenmobilephoneshop.co.uk/sony-ericsson-idou-touch-screen-mobile-phone/

This thing is sporting a 1Ghz processor!  :yikes-ani: The only drawback is that it's a GSM (AT&T). Considering the limits of CDMA i can see why. But the stability of the CDMA network is something Sony or Apple should really consider, not to mention China!
