Restoring profile
« on: January 13, 2010, 06:11:19 AM »
I've given everyone the chance to own me these last couple of weeks.( you know who you are) It's time to restore my profile. I have saved me profile on my older computer and have it network to my newer rig. I updated the back up last night using one of the profile backer uppers. Jeff said it was easy to restore so. Are there instructions on how to do this? I saw where the back up is. Do I copy over just the profiles. The mods? The whole folder? Is it just a copy and paste kind of thing? Do I have to delete the current profile? I'm at work right now so I might have to do this this weekend. .

Try replacing the profiles the profiles folder with the installed one. Seems to work with COD4

There must be some info on this on the web.

I have not done it for COD5.  In COD4, just replacing the new profile folder with the old one will restore the profile.  I would move the one you are replacing to someplace safe (e.g., desktop) just in case, then copy and paste the old one in.

I'm not sure that this is helpful.

Well I haven't found anything yet. I did manage to bork up my computer. Music wouldn't play but game music would.  Files were disappearing. I realized that since I haven't put much on it yet I could do a reinstall. That's what I'm doing now and over the next couple days. As hard as I tried I could not find the profile on the Windows 7 machine.

Bummer.

Now you can experience the games like they're new!
