Anyone thinking of getting this?  With the pre-purchase you get Beta through 2/25.  Not sure if I can get in on that now, but soon perhaps.  Won't bother, though, if no one else is interested.

Over at 1078 most are buying BF BF2 as a new game.
Also changed servers to Hybernia which will run the BF BF2 ranked servers for 1078

Already complaints are in with low FPS on high end rigs and the lag is an issue

We are aware of a number of crashes when people are using the server browser in game. Please help us pin point the issue by avoiding the use of the browser and instead using the PLAY NOW button.
This will help us locate the cause as well as allow you into the beta servers without CTD.

At the moment this sets you up as matchmaking with other players.

Yea, I hear that.  That's why I posted the thread.  I'll try it out tomorrow and post some notes.  Hopefully DICE will hold true to what they were saying back when CoD:MW2 came out and give the PC users what they want.  I really want a new game that we can all reunite with.

I still have to get my settings dialed in, so things were a bit awkward for me.

My only real impression is that it is a BF game - very vehicle intensive.  Personally, I'm reserving any judgment for the release of the real game.

Y'know, me too.  I've been playing it on and off over the weekend (check your friend invites, Gren) and wanted to post my impressions, but I just couldn't put my thoughts together.  Like you said, it's very vehicle intensive.  I love the destructible scenery, though.  Really adds a new element to gaming I haven't really experienced yet.  There's still a lot of stuff I'd like to see ironed out still.  And one thing that puts me off as a very casual gamer (these days) is how long it takes to achieve stuff.  Don't think it'd be that bad if I was able to effectively communicate with squad or team mates, but with no one else on while I was playing it was really hard to achieve my level 2.5.

After you login with EA if you look on the left there's a tab that says "Friends".  If you don't see the invite, then I'm guessing it's broken.

Let me know details about it. I never played any of the bf games so i dont know the platform and really dont wanna have to get used to another play style. Like some i def wont be getting it till it comes out and is around for a while. keep me posted.

Rob, if you can play COD, you can play BF.  They are really very similar in terms of player interface, weapons, and that sort of thing.  Map size and the use of vehicles is the real difference.  The tanks are better than they were in COD5 in that they actually can be killed with a good RPG:AT hit.

You're not kidding, either.  While a great deal of damage can be done with a tank, I've noticed that I usually don't stay alive long if there's decent anti-tank people around.

I'm glad to hear that. I remember in BF2 it took like 5 AT rockets to the soft spots of a tank to kill it.
