Stupid Razor mouse pad
« on: January 28, 2010, 12:27:03 PM »
I tried one of the Razor gaming surfaces (upon Gene and Pete's recommendation) last year.  I got the Sphex, which is a very light and thin surface that kind of adheres to your desk (though its not supposed to be permanent).  Anyhow, had it since last spring probably, and the surface of it is very nice I will admit.  However, I have moved it around a couple of times, and it is a little sticky, kind of like those old time photo album sheets.

This last time I tried to peel it up and move it, it was stuck so hard to my desk, that 100s of tiny little dots which are on the backing, broke off and are now stuck to my nice Ikea desk.  I had to use a razor blade, credit card and some "Goo gone" to scrape the shit off my desk.  Took a while and a boat load of elbow grease.

I sent an e-mail to the razor tech support and told them of the problem, and they simply replied, that our products have a 6 month warranty, blah blah, bu bye.

So I thought they would at least try to offer me a replacement of a different model pad, but no dice.  So I told them I'd be sure to share my bad experience with Razor products, with as many of my friends in the gaming community as possible, in hopes of helping others avoid the same headache I had.

Ill update this post if they change their tune and reply back with a more customer friendly response.  Its amazing to me how bad customer service can be from companies but yet, they still thrive and keep selling more and more shit to people.  If I owned my own business, I would have the best customer service possible to make sure my customers keep coming back and referring me.  Bad publicity is worth negative 10x the value of positive publicity.

Later.

I like my Razor mouse pad, but I don't have the self stick one.  I use the eXactMat X speed mat.  Has a ruff side and a smooth side.  No problems with it and I've had it for over a year.  You just have to clean it every now and then.
